• Hello I search but dont find on free an paid plugin version on features list. The EU regulation requires at least two non-conflicting pieces of evidence to prove the location of a customer (e.g. billing address, delivery address) on features listed I dont see regsitration of this certification on orders. my prévioux plugin add Requiring self-certification where proof of location is insufficient like when geo IP and country billing address are different. what proof are regsitred in you plugin ? and in case of difference between geo ip and country billing adress?

also compatible with plugin invoice packing slip to add the vat number line for company who provide one good?

    Hello @ajna667

Using this plugin, you can verify the location by billing address, shipping address, and IP, you can invalidate the VAT exemption if any of these doesn’t reflect the correct country of the VAT number.

Hope this helps, let me know if you still need any help.

Im not sur it’s good, as European VAT law requires store two pieces of non-contradictory evidence to prove your customers’ location. (Or if you’re an EU country selling less than €100,000/year to other EU countries then 1 piece of third party evidence is acceptable.)
in case the customer is in a different country as th billing/shipping adress ip is contractory so not a proof. or if customer us proxy or not accept or use anonymizing browser or peraps not accept cookies cause if not cookie is accept it’ ilegal to check ip customer (RGPD law)
other EU VAT plugin for this cases display on order form a check case of auto certification where customer certif to leave or have its business adress il the biling country he writed on biling adress.

what do you think about its? do your plugin provide 2 proofs non contradictory also in case of different ip or no ip data?

    Hello @ajna667

    Thanks for the details.

So here are cases that the plugin can handle:

    1) Billing country is same as registered country for that VAT number
    2) Shipping country is the SAME as billing country (if not, you can preserve VAT)
    3) Verify that IP is from the same registered country (as you mentioned, this can’t be 100% accurate), and you can verify IP location while adhering to GDPR since you can verify IP range and not the exact IP.

I believe these 3 cases cover and provide at least 2 proofs of customer location, let me know if I miss anything.

hello, i think shipping adress is not an evidence of fiscal residence.
IP country still a legal evidence even if it’s a bit shaky with proxies more and more used by the general public, concretely the customer has the right to use proxies, no law forbids it, so the IP should not be a proof.

so I thinks from the EU legal point of view, 1 more evidence should be add to your plugin as other plugin do, an auto certification from the customers when billing country is not the same as the ip country.

will you add feature in a next update?

    Hello,

Can you please explain a little more, what is “auto certification” here? And if we will not count on IP, then why it should be used when billing isn’t matching it?

Please send me the reference documents from EU that you’re referring to, will be happy to adapt to all details.

auto certification is a declaration from the customer like https://ps.w.org/woocommerce-eu-vat-assistant/assets/screenshot-2.png?rev=1066156

for example if I make an order that I put that I am in Belgium in address of invoicing and delivery, but that my ip indicates that I am in France, the information of address of invoicing and delivery are contradicted they are not valid then it is necessary another proof, it is the one that the auto certification is necessary
