Longer spaces between paragraphs

Hey I’m having a problem, I’m trying to add a few extra spaces between my paragraphs on the pages of my website (I dont want the spaces between paragraphs in EVERY part of the different pages, although I could settle on that), so far I’ve been using <p>&nbsp;</p> but it’s just a temporary fix because every time I put that in on the HTML side of the page editor then go to the Visual side it gets deleted, so far it works just as long as I don’t click on the “Visual” side of the page editor. Can I get any advice? I need a permanent fix for this, would it be the theme or CSS that I have to modify?
