Long loading time when posting new post

  • When i try to post something to my blog, sometimes it happens that the loading time is too long…

    Sometimes it publishes normaly, but sometimes it takes ages, and then i get the 404 page…

    What might be causing this?

  • Run an experiment for me. Turn off post revisions. Add the following to you wp-config.php.

    /** Turn Off Revisions **/
    define(‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’, false);

    When post revisions first came out I had a very similar sounding problem, until I turned it off. If you don’t see a change just undo the change to the wp-config.

    It didn’t help me…

    The strange is, that when i get the ‘404 ot fouznd’ error, i see the post i was trzing to publish among mz published posts, but there are also a few drafts of it as well, and i didn’t create them…

    That’s odd for me… And the loading time can take up to several minutes…

    WP creates one draft automatically and over-writes it every time the autosave function runs. WP also creates a series of revisions. Those are probably what you are seeing. Got any plugins installed?

    Well, a whole bunch of them is installed, actually…

    AdSense Manager, All in One SEO Pack, Contact Form 7, CyStat, Get The Image, NextGEN Gallery, the_excerpt Reloaded, Tweet This, WP-EMail, WP-Polls, WP-PostRatings, WP-PostViews, WP-Print, WP-UserOnline, Yet Another Related Posts Plugin…

    Okey-dokey… turn all of those plugins off and see what happens. If the problem gets better, start turning the plugins back on until you find the culprit.
