long list of newbie hurdles..plz help!

  • I activated wordpress 2.3.3 from yahoo web hosting options. I picked BLIX as the theme from the 7 options available under presentation in dashboard.
    i have the following problemsthat need your help.

    1. When I write a post, I don’t always see CODE, VISUAL options.Often it’s CODE, but i prefer VISUAL with the VISUAL buttons, not being a techie.

    2. Even when I see the two options, clicking one or other doesn’t brin up the different set of buttons.

    3. Sometimes I see SUBSCRIBE 2 instead of VISUAL or CODE.

    4.Ecllipsis and Apostrophe marks show up as strange characters in the post.

    5. MY YAHOO is activated in plug ins , but I dont see it in the sidebar of BLIX, May I know how to install it, please?

    6. Can I change themes , say from Blix to Almost Spring and retain content, and can I switchy back and forth without losing settings, AD codes installed in BLIX etc.?

    7. Is my copy corrupted? Sgould I deactivate WP in Yahoo Hosting options and REACTIVATE to solve the problems, again , can I do so without losing the posts, comments, settings?

    8. URLs dont show up in posts as clickable links.

    9. Lastly, Why does Yahoo supply 2.3.3, when 2.6 is the updated version, OR should I be asking Yahoo this question:)

  • I would just drop Yahoo all together and go with a more reliable hosting provider such as HostGator.

    It sounds as though a lot of the problems you are having have to deal with have to do with the core files of WordPress and considering you cannot upgrade to the latest version automatically I would either find somebody who can do it for you or find a new web host.

    Thanks JarretCade. So you think it’s Yahoo version; any thoughts on who can update the Yahoo version for me?
