Long delay in generating Home Page featured slider

  • For the past month or two, auto-generated featured image posts from blog take an unusually long time (up to 20 hours!) to publish on the home page slider. The new post does immediately display as published in dashboard and is immediately reached by auto-generated email.

    This is not a cache issue. All updates are current. No other problems. Customizer version 3.4.34.
    Does anyone have a clue what’s wrong?
