Around Line No. 55 and 68 you can see span3 and span9 classes you can change both to span6 so that both column has half of screen space.

You can use from span1 to span12 as classes. If it is not enough you can override it using #masthead .spanx: xxwidth !important. But I’m not sure how well it be responsive.
