• Hello, I’ve had a new logo developed for my blog and would like to replace the current, auto-generated Mon Cahier header with it. I am hoping there is a (relatively) non-technical way to do this as I’m not an HTML person….

    Has anyone else done this?

    Thanks so much!

  • Go to header in the appearance section and upload your logo image. Then remove title and subtitle from customize your site option.

Thank you for this. When I go to the Appearance section, there is no option for “Header.” So I thought perhaps I could access the header via Themes/Theme Options. However, when I click on Theme Options I get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_theme() in /home/kmjudge/public_html/wp-content/themes/mon-cahier/inc/theme-options.php on line 50

Not sure what this means and I figure I’d better not go mucking around on line 50 (whatever that means) without getting some guidance first. Any suggestions?

Many thanks for all your help,
    Karen

    HI Karen,

Unfortunately, there is no option to upload a logo in this theme. Not all themes have this option. If you want to use an image instead of just the wording, you’ll need to make a child theme. Here’s a tutorial, I wrote on making a child theme for Mon Cahier.

With regards to the call to undefined function, I just checked the site and I can replicate the error. Can you deactivate all your plugins and maybe re-upload the theme? I think that there’s either an error with the theme or a plugin maybe causing issues.

Just so you know, the theme options has to do with the social media icons.

Hi Christine, thank you for your kind help, I really appreciate it.

Your reply, “Theme options has to do with the social media icons,” I am not sure what that means :).

Also, making a child theme, is that essentially like making a copy of the theme so I can add my own tweaks? If so I am guessing that the parent remains unchanged so you always have a master copy so to speak?

    Thank you again,

One other thing … I looked at the create a child theme tutorial, thank you for sending that. The first instruction is to make a new folder. Is that a folder within WordPress? Or on my harddrive? I’m embarrassed to say the first task on this is something new to me. Also, the lines of code you provided, how do you know precisely WHERE to put them?

I think I am probably out of my league here and ought to bring in the big guns since I’m so darned non-technical. Also, i don’t want to monopolize your time. If my questions are an imposition I understand.

    thanks again,
    Karen
