I’ve been having a really difficult time login into my dashboard lately, and it would tell me that I need to enable cookies when I already have. I would usually log into my dashboard twice to get in, but now I’m not able to get in at all. What can I do to fix this problem?

Which browser do you use? Have you always used this browser? Recently made any changes to the settings or install any extensions/addons?

I use Apple’s Safari browser and I deleted a few themes and plugins, but it still didn’t work.

Try using another browser to test this – Firefox or Chrome.

Also, try switching to the default theme with ALL plugins deactivated to see if this is related to any of those.

BTW, what version of Safari and OS are you using?

Safari 7.0 for the web and OSX Mavericks.

I tired every browser on all of my computers and it still didn’t work for me.

Also, try switching to the default theme with ALL plugins deactivated to see if this is related to any of those.

    Where is your site hosted?

My website is hosted on Laughing Squid. My parents and I switched credit cards this past Friday to pay for my web host. Could that be a factor? Also how do I switch to a default theme in my FTP? I use Fetch.

I was able to login twice to access my dashboard before this problem and it worked really well until Saturday night.

Did you change anything on Saturday? Have you tried from another ISP?

    What is your site URL?

    Thread Starter Sheblum

    (@sheblum)

Not at all, It didn’t even work on Saturday night, the last time I changed anything to my site was on Friday afternoon.

    My site URL is hhttps://www.stuffbysheerly.com/portfolio

That looks like your site is down entirely – not just a login/cookie issue. Is WordPress installed in the sub-directory “portfolio”?

    Thread Starter Sheblum

    (@sheblum)

Yes, it’s downloaded as a sub-directory. I didn’t realize that it was down when I just saw the website.

Without any info about what may be going on, you might want to ask Laughing Squid how to access the server error logs for your site.

Or you can start on the standard troubleshooting steps which are to use FTP to rename the plugins folder on the server –

    wp-content
        plugins.HOLD

If that does not change anything, try also renaming your active theme’s folder –

    wp-content
        themes
WHATEVER THEME YOU ARE USING - ADD HOLD TO THE THEME FOLDER

Okay, I can load my site. But I still wasn’t able to access my dashboard and I tried your coding and that still didn’t work. Laughing Squid’s support won’t be open until Monday after the weekend so I can’t ask them anything about it until then.
