    To whom it may concern,

We are hosting a number of WordPress sites for a client on a dedicated web server, all of which run Wordfence Security. These websites were migrated from different servers. There’s one particular site we host on the new server that has an issue while Wordfence is activated: the login page loops back to itself. This issue wasn’t present when the site was hosted on the previous server.

Currently, we have Wordfence deactivated as to temporarily disable the login loop issue, but we have attempted the following solutions:

    • Deactivating all plugins (that’s how we detected there was an issue with Wordfence)
    • Only activating Wordfence
    • Checking for plugin conflicts
    • Checking for theme conflicts (though other sites on the server run Wordfence and the same theme with no issues)
    • Reinstalling Wordfence
    • Resetting the Wordfence Application Firewall
    • Reinstalling WordPress 5.4
    • Changing the MySQL storage engine from MyISAM to InnoDB (InnoDB was already the default)
    • Checking for missing PHP module requirements (server runs on 7.2)
    • Forcing the website home/site URL via wp-config.php (WP_NAME, WP_HOME)

All of these solutions didn’t work. What else could cause the login loop to persist while Wordfence is running?

  • Hey @schuylinc,

Did you try reinstalling Wordfence by using the Wordfence assistant to make sure no code or data was leftover?

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/

If you have already tried this, or it doesn’t help can you please try disabling Two-Factor and CAPTCHA to see if it helps?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

I apologize for the late reply, but the login loop issue still persists.

We’ve attempted to clear Wordfence data using the Wordfence Assistant plugin, and we never had Two-Factor or CAPTCHA enabled.

After reinstalling and reactivating Wordfence, the issue returned.

    To whom it may concern:

    We have resolved the issue.

There was an issue with the WordPress database tables. When we performed the migration, there was an error importing certain tables which caused rules for primary keys and indexes to not be assigned.

We have reverted the website to the latest functional state, imported the database again with correct collations, removed unnecessary plugins and plugin tables, and reinstalled WordPress.

Thank you for reaching out to us beforehand.
