login redirect from registration is to registration?

Hi,
this functionality seems odd. With these steps…..
1. redirection is set to referer
2. enable custom passwords is set
3. the user registers
4. they are then sent to login
5. when they login it sends them back to registration.technically that is where they came from but it is very confusing. How can it be setup so that the referer is the page that they came to registration from?
Alternately could I have 2 different login pages. 1 that redirects to referer. A different 1 that a user is sent to from regsitration that has a custom URL location for redirect
