• We have a client whose website we built using WordPress as the CMS. The client failed to make the payment regarding the last installation and we informed them that we would be taking down the site if we didn’t receive it within a few days.

So we basically just logged into the backend of their site through WordPress and I changed the email AND password for the admin login. There were no other users.

However, when trying to login today, it failed. I’m assuming the client may have been able to login and change the information but I was wondering how they could have figured out the password if I had changed that AND the email that referenced back to the username.

What other ways can someone retrieve WordPress user login information?

    Ah f*ck, forgot about that.

You have my sympathy. Non-paying clients are a PITA. Maybe next time, remove the custom theme too?

I should have.. My head wasn’t in the right spot when working out this problem. I was under the impression that both people we were in contact with under the client had no idea how to do anything web-related. I’m assuming they had someone (third-party) and figure this out.
