    To anyone else who might have similar issues. WordPress’ ajax endpoint is in wp-admin (wp-admin/admin-ajax.php). If you password protect / whitelist by IP access to that directory then you will need to exclude that file otherwise any plugin or theme using ajax will have that functionality broken.
