• When I try to login in to my site, instead of redirecting to the admin panel, it stays on the wp-login.php page and I get a blank screen.

I try the path to the admin folder, /wp-admin/, again blank screen.

I’m guessing this must be a plugin problem but the site itself is functioning fine. I just can’t login.

I’m not sure which version of wordpress I’m using, but it is recent.

  • Hi, Cynstahl —

Do you have any caching plugins installed?

If it is a plugin issue, try using FTP to remove your plugins and see if the site starts working again. If so, add the plugins back in one-by-one until the problem recurs, and you’ll have your culprit.

You guessed this is a plugin problem, so I still recommend trying to remove all your existing plugins and seeing if the issue goes away.

My plugin guess was because that’s all I know to guess.

My problem turns out to be with my theme. I set up a second site on the same server and experienced the same problem when I switched from the default theme to my modified Modularity-Lite theme.

Although I haven’t a clue as to what is preventing the login page from progressing to admin.

I’m probably going to end up building a new theme.
