Even though a user logs in, he cannot see items that are only visible to logged in users. The site does not see him as a logged in user. But in the wp dashboard it shows that the user is logged in. Please advise. The person logged in should see the question form.

    Hi there,

How are you hiding the content within your ask page? What shortcode are you using? Or are you using custom code?

If a user is logged into WP then it’s definitely logged into your frontend. WPUM doesn’t separate the two and uses default WP’s functionalities. There might be problems with how you’ve hidden your content.

Thanks for your quick response. My hidden content is short code for a question form that only appears on the login page when the user is logged in. The short code is from the cm answers plugin. However the form is not appearing when a subscriber logs in. Is it a problem to have your short code and cm answers short code on the same page?
    Thanks

    Hi there,

I’m not familiar with cm answers so I’m not sure if there’s any issues with it. You can do a simple test, use the shortcode wpum_restrict_logged_in as described from here https://docs.wpusermanager.com/article/52-content-restrictions-shortcodes and see if the content is correctly being displayed to logged in users only and let me know.

awesome advice. that worked well. Thanks
I have one more question – where can I change the message text
“This content is available to members only. Please login or register to view this area.”
    thanks!

hi – so it worked once – and I Wrote awesome – but now that I tested again
    https://www.deracheha.org/ask/
I fill in the form but I still don’t see the hidden content.
    – I need to click the login button again under the form that says

“This content is available to members only. Please login or register to view this area.”
once I click on the login- then I see the hidden content.

It seems from the links – that when I click the login button under the form the link stays as https://www.deracheha.org/ask/
but when I click the login where the hidden content code is – then I see the link as
    https://www.deracheha.org/ask/?redirect_to=https://www.deracheha.org/ask/

Perhaps the issue is that on the WP User Manager Settings redirect page for after login.
You have the suggestion – “Select the page where you want to redirect users after they login. Leave blank to redirect users to the previously visited page.”
I don’t have that ability – so I put in there the name of the “ask” page – perhaps it should be blank – but how can I do that ?
I also want to point out that the issue is only with subscribers and not with admin status users.
IF you can test using the subscriber Michelle
    user 1W2#dfghy
    thanks a lot

    Hey @newbee_sue

Please avoid publicly sharing login details of accounts on the forum.

I’m not sure what is causing the issue on your site but my recommendation is to separate the login and ask page. Create a login page and place the login form in there, then set as redirect within the settings to redirect to the ask page after login. You shouldn’t have issues after.
