Login No Longer Works to Access Dashboard and wp-Admin

    I can no longer get my password to give me access to my dashboard for my website/blog. When I add my login, it says I’ve entered the wrong password. If I attempt to ask WP to send me a new password, no email arrives in my inbox (or spam folder.) I’ve tried resetting the password but to no avail.

    This started at the time the last update was auto-installed. I’ve got webhosting via DreamHost. I’m using 4.3.1, which was auto-installed on Sept 15, 2016.

    Can someone help me?

    – My suggestion is to MANUALLY updating to the latest version 4.6.1. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
    – Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

    If I have no access to the admin or to the dashboard of any kind, is that still possible? I’m TOTALLY locked out.

    Im not sure if I understand your question.

    Are you asking if it is still possible to Manually update to 4.6.1?

    If so, yes. Just follow the instructions in my previous reply

    No. My question is how do I get access to my website/blog if I am locked out and cannot get my password to let me in, even when I request a password reset to be emailed to me.

    I am locked out of the website and have been since the last update.

    My suggestion is start with updating your WP to 4.6.1

    Also make sure all your plugins and theme are up to date.
