    Hi,

We’ve moved to using Wordfence over the last few months and have been replacing login recaptcha plugins with the build in functionality in Wordfence login security.

However, we seem to to be finding the odd people who could login in fine before using recaptcha v3s via dedicated plugins, getting error from Wordfence when trying to login. We also see a corresponding score of 0.0 in the graph for them.

Something about the Wordfence implementation doesn’t seem to like them. That fact that the score is 0.0 makes me wonder if something is failing to return a result?

    How can we debug this?

Hi @delanthear, thanks for getting in touch!

I would request that the users having issues try in a private browsing window, or a different browser to their default in case a browser plugin is contributing to a problem other users aren’t getting. Do they see any Javascript errors on the login page when looking at their browser console to suggest there is a problem with the reCAPTCHA elements loading?

Verification emails are usually triggered by reCAPTCHA itself rather than us. Google has been known to give some people a low score, requiring extra verification via email to prove they aren’t a bot. We aren’t in a position to be informed as to why Google’s algorithm comes to this conclusion. Are the users experiencing trouble receiving these emails and not carrying out the verification step to gain access? If they aren’t receiving the emails then the low score may be from the issues mentioned above causing Javascript to fail.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Not sure why this is marked as resolved. Does it do it automatically if I don’t reply immediately? (I was on hols!)

These are two of the errors our users see: https://imgur.com/a/D71owoL

Do you know what might be the cause of the first error? It seems like some sort of failure.

The second is also a bit weird. It seems to be saying “We’ve blocked you because ‘we blocked you'” which isn’t a good explanation for what’s going on!

We’ve also notice people continually having email verification emails being sent and it doesn’t seem to stop wanting accounts to be verified by clicking on the links. (if that email actually arrives…). What is the criteria for triggering this?

This is the sort of recaptcha issues we see on one of our sites:

On a different site (this one running Wishlist Member) one particular use gets the top error message on this https://imgur.com/a/D71owoL (authentication error) with Wordfence installed and the recapture in bypass mode. It does the same on his phone as well, so seems to be tied to the user account, rather than the device.

If we disable Wordfence, he can get in fine?
