• Hello,

Stupidly simple yet aggravating issue here! I contribute to metro.co.uk/blogs and I’m permanently logged into their system to upload my posts. However today WordPress booted me out, so I was asked to log back in. I realised I’d forgotten my password and went to reset it – and it told me no account is attached to my email address!

I’ve contacted my editor and they’re not aware of any issues, but they’re saying they can’t reset my password for me (I have no idea how they’re running their system but the editor has no access to ‘Settings’ as you’d expect an Editor/Admin based user to have).

I’ve now been locked out of trying to reset my password because in disbelief I tried three times, so I have to wait 30 minutes to try again.

In the meantime, has anyone got any idea what could be happening? I’m 100% certain I’m using the right email address as I receive notifications to it from WordPress/Metro.

So annoying, I just want to reset my password and access my account!

    Tiffany

Sorry you’ve hit this snag. I know it’s frustrating.

the editor has no access to ‘Settings’ as you’d expect an Editor/Admin based user to have

It’s reasonable that an editor would not have the same capabilities as an admin, so that isn’t a surprise. Perhaps you could at least have them verify your email address to be sure about that part of it. If the editor is unable to help, they’ll have to go up the chain to the admin since you have no other recourse without access of your own (besides the ‘forgot password’ link). Good luck!

Unfortunately hassling staff at Metro is not really an option – I work freelance so I don’t really have any personal contact with anyone outside of my editor, and if she says she can’t help, that’s that.
