Login to see scare tactic pop-up

  • Basic plugin did what it was supposed to do, but logged in to see this today:

    Oops! Don’t lose your web traffic!

    You have 5,158 broken link (404 page),
    Upgrade to pro version to manage 404 errors and empower your site SEO

    It’s a small business client site with maybe a hundred links total on the entire site, and this warning is ridiculous. There are so many small business owners who are trying to manage their own sites and trust WP plugins to be good small business partners. If the author comes back and says 5158 is a representative number for an “ad” to upgrade, it’s still ridiculous. Trust vanished, and I’ll go out of my way to avoid plugins by this author.
