Login from main page takes me to nothing found
-
Howdy
Well, I’ve searched and searched and can’t seem to find an answer to a rather peculiar login problem. So I finally broke down and registered here to inquire further. On my home or start page https://www.wholebible.com/blog I click on the Log In link and I get a Nothing Found page. I’m using the latest Firefox (does it on Chrome too), cleared the cache, and restarted.
I can bypass the Log In on the home page by manually selecting a URL from my recent URL list which is https://wholebible.com/blog/wp-login.php?z31a0p3gbwjplgdvr2c50. I used Toolbar buttons for both URL’s. I accidentally found this when I was looking for what I did wrong when I couldn’t log in the normal way from the home page.
Here’s a weird twist. If I login with the recent URL and the long number after it (which logs me in regularly), then open a (second) new tab (while logged in on the first tab) to the Blog home and click on the Log In link, I get the normal login page.
Here’s a even weirder twist: I just tried using the URL with the long number, the field with the Captcha just goes blank and the page doesn’t change to the Dashboard. However, when I go to the blog home page (using the Toolbar button), the Log In option shows Log Out and I can access the site from upper left.
I’ve looked at the Site Address URL in General Settings (www.wholebible.com/blog) and the WordPress address (same) and haven’t changed them. I think they’re okay. I’m pretty sure this problem popped up after I updated the plugins Jetpack (deleted and reinstalled), Updraft Plus (since deleted) and Better WP Security (also deleted and now using Wordfence).
There’s probably a simple explanation that will make me feel dumber than a sack full of hammers after you tell me. I have Filezilla and tried renaming the plugin folder and creating a new blank one, but that doesn’t help.
Thanks
