• HI

I am running Instant WordPress from my C: drive.

I regularly copy the entire instantWordPress directory to another location as a backup. I decided recently to update to the current WordPress which I did manually following the instructions on the WordPress site. I then had to update the database which was done automatically.

Once completed I was unable to login to my site. I have also found that I am unable to login to the copies kept elsewhere. Of course I can log in using admin and password but that only reaches the dummy site supplied with the release. I am unable to login to my own content.

Can Anyone help me to login please.
    Versions:
    Instant-WP-4.4.2 contains
    WordPress 4.1
    Apache 2.2.15
    PHP 5.4.36
    MySQL 5.1.46-community-nt

    Many thanks
    Scriptham

    Tara

Am very grateful for your reply – thankyou.

I followed the MyPHPadmin approach. When I use the wrong UID or the wrong PWD it tells me which is wrong. When I use the correct UID and PWD the response is

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

I imagine that there is a setting somewhere that needs changing, can you advise please.

    Thanks.
    Scriptham.

    Do you have admin role?

When I use the correct UID and PWD the response is
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

If you have admin privileges, you may want to discuss this with your host.

    Tara

WordPress is actually located on localhost. So I am having to do my own admin.

This system did work since July until yesterday when I updated WordPress so it should work again. I know from using myphpadmin that the PWD had changed in the db. Presumably other security data could have changed as well.

    Any ideas?

check your server error logs for any specific error message

When you enter a new password for a user via phpMyAdmin, you also HAVE to set the varchar(64) value to `md5′ … then click Go ??

Try it again but also do this step.

    Hi SniffleValve

Thanks, I did do that and I checked the MD5 result against one generated on the internet for the same password. They were equal.

    Hi Tara

Have since learned, by repeating and checking the timings, that all errors below resulted from opening the log in screen not from an unsuccessful log in and not from the error msg ‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’

Managed to locate the windows 7 log files through

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools and then event viewer

Have entries broadly as follows for 25/09/2015 = Sept 25, 2015 (today) at 10:38:31 and 10:38:53.
    Error:

The description for Event ID 100 from source MySQL cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Column count of mysql.proc is wrong. Expected 20, found 16. Created with MySQL 50041, now running 50146. Please use mysql_upgrade to fix this error.

    Also

Event Scheduler: An error occurred when initializing system tables. Disabling the Event Scheduler.

    Also

    Cannot open mysql.event

    Also

mysql.user has no Event_priv column at position 29

    Also

Column count of mysql.db is wrong. Expected 22, found 20. Created with MySQL 50041, now running 50146. Please use mysql_upgrade to fix this error.

    Also

Can’t open and lock privilege tables: Table ‘mysql.servers’ doesn’t exist

    Also

Can’t open the mysql.plugin table. Please run mysql_upgrade to create it.

    Also

‘–default-collation’ is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. Please use ‘–collation-server’ instead.

    Also

‘–default-character-set’ is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. Please use ‘–character-set-server’ instead.

On 25/09/2015 at about 10:45:00 logged into the same login panel as above using ‘admin’ and ‘password’ to get the default or dummy site with no corresponding entries in the error log.

Unable to find Apache server error logs – sorry.

Please advise on how to overcome the error msg ‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’ and open my WordPress site.

    Thanks
    Scriptham
