login and Dashboard frozen as it tries to run Site Stats

I just upgraded to 3.6 and when I logged back in I come up with the Dashboard, but it is frozen. The only thing happening is the a little icon keeps turning around in Site Stats, but never finishes. My guess it is trying to run Site Stats and won’t do anything until it finishes or gives up — unfortunately it is NOT giving up and I can’t do ANYTHING on the screen other than CTRL ALT DEL Firefox. I can’t figure any way to escape out of the Site Stats function (terminate it without terminating Firefox or closing out the browser). Any suggestions — soonest, would be greatly appreciated.

However, I get the same spinning icon for Site Stats in IE, but it lets me function properly??????
