Logged in users cannot checkout, but new users can.

    Hello,
    I have never had this issue before with the previous version of the paypal plugin.
    What is happening is if you are a new user the checkout process works fine. However, if you are a returning customer who is logged in, then he paypal payment popup window shows up for a split second and then the process is throwing the, “Something went wrong. Please try again or choose another payment source.”

    I had the previous version (the one you stopped supporting) of this plugin working on my website for many years with no issue, and this has just started occurring since I updated to this version of the plugin.

    Any help you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

    I am facing the same issue – new users can use the PayPal payment process, and logged-in users have the error message: “Something went wrong. Please try again or choose another payment source.”
    I have also removed the unnecessary checkout billing fields because my product is digital.
    @themathman, what is the code that helps remove that error?

    We did some testing and found the behavior to be the expected one when the Default customer location setting is set to No location by default.
    The default WooCommerce payment gateways should throw a similar error when the billing fields are hidden, and no billing country is set for the buyer.

    Can you please give it a try with the Default customer location setting setting configured to Shop country/region in the General WooCommerce settings tab?
    This should resolve the issue without the need for the filter mentioned above.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    WooCommerce essentially requires a billing country to process orders. In our tests, the reported behavior has been consistent across all payment gateways, the integrated, or third-party ones. I couldn’t find any clear documentation around it anywhere, but it should also not be a frequent problem as hiding the billing country field and having it set to No location by default are both non-standard configurations.

    I’m getting the opposite problem since 5 days ago. Both PayPal and Stripe payments have been working fine on my site for more than a year, and recently when customers try to check out as guests without logging in, both payment types fail.

    Paypal returns “could not retrieve order” error and the Stripe in-line payment doesn’t appear. I’ve had a look through all of my plug-ins, and they were all updated before these problems seem to have occurred.
