Log out strangeness

  • Hi,

    I’m having a lot of strange behavior on my site that I’m trying to solve with the theme developers and my hosting service. But something just started happening this morning and I thought I’d check here to see if anyone has encountered anything like this before.

    When I’m in the Dashboard and I select logout from the “howdy” menu, it takes a long time and then I get a dialogue box that says:

    You are attempting to log out of Site Name
    Do you really want to log out?

    with “log out” being a link.

    At that point, the browser tab reads “WordPress Failure Notice.” If you click the link, after a substantial wait, you’re taken to the log in screen.

    Does anyone have any idea of what is causing this and what I might do to fix it?

    The best way to investigate this is to do some troubleshooting to find out whether it is caused by the theme or a plugin. So change to a default plugin such as twentythirteen or twentyfourteen and test. If it still occurs with a default theme deactivate all plugins. If the problem no longer exists, reactivate them one at a time & test each time. If it is caused by a plugin this will tell you which one needs to be investigated further.
