• Hello,

It has been a few days that I’m trying to solve this problem. I’ve been using BackWPup for an year now, but since my site got bigger, problems started to happen. I have four different backup jobs, two of them work perfectly fine (they are very small, around 10-20 MB).

When I try to backup one of my wp-content/uploads folder, wich has around 800 MB, at first it seems to work fine, and a file is actually uploaded to Amazon S3. But the file is small (1/3 of the actual size the backup is supposed to be) and when I unzip it to test, it has only around 1/3 of the files and is corrupted at the end of the unzip process.

The other problem is, that the logfile does not show me anything. It seems do be only a partial log file, cause it ends on these lines:

    …….
    [INFO] Temp folder is: /var/www/xxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-9c698a-temp/
    [INFO] Logfile is: /var/www/xxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-f8bfa-logs/backwpup_log_9c698a_2014-08-24_17-47-01.html
    [INFO] Backup type is: archive
    [INFO] Backup file is: /var/www/xxxxxxxxxx/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-9c698a-temp/new_xxx_bkp_currimg_2014-08-24_17-47-01.tar.gz

There is nothing else after that, although the progress bar on top of the plugin page, shows me that the backup was completed after ~1700 seconds. All the options related to restart the backup process after X seconds are set, and I also tried playing around with other settings with no success. Maybe it is something with my server (ubuntu+nginx+varnish)? If I could at least fix the logfile, that would help a lot!

I had somewhat of a breakthrough. I changed the format of the backup to just an uncompressed tarball and not only the process is now super fast (~110 seconds), but it also works perfectly fine.

The log is still not showing up everything its supposed to, I would love to fix that!
