• hi there..
I have been having trouble with my log in page. Somehow, I think the log in page has been tampered. The log in page is not showing the standard WordPress log in page, but only username and password question. To which, always denied me even though I have changed the password in the database manually.

I even tried new installation of WordPress on the server and when I tried to log in, it still showing the false page.

    can anyone help?

The login.php appears to be password protected at the web server level before WordPress. Is this something that you did?

For general WordPress password reset issues give this a read. It contains methods for resetting your password when the normal options fail.

@jdembowski @sanujacom Thank you guys for your reply. I was a little hesitated where to put the question in the forum and sorry for putting it in the wrong place.

I think you are right about the restriction comes out at the web server level thereby it will come out the same even with a new installation. However, I didn’t know who did this and what’s the user name and password to get pass it.

@sanujacom I tried the combination of the web hosting username/password but still can’t go through. When I put in a new installation of WordPress, why is the pop up still comes out? Do you think this is a result of a hacker put in a malicious software or just a setting up error? I will contact the web hosting and see what they’d come out with.

    Thank you guys.

Thank you guys again for your response. I have succeeded to log in to admin again referring to your comments. it turns out that the weh hosting company put in additional security page without my knowledge. So case closed.

Good to know. I suspected the web hosting company or someone who manages your .htaccess file instead of a hacker. ??
