Log in Redirect? Why?

  • I have moved a WordPress blog from our testing server to the client’s live server. The WordPress site comes up fine, but when I login to the wp-login.php, it redirects me to the installation on our testing server, not on the client’s live server from where I’m logging in.

    Every blog post I click takes me back to the testing server. Does anyone know why?

  • Hi, rbcm2002, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. I suspect the reason for your problem is that the url’s haven’t been changed in the database.

    You can either try this:
    https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/
    or, if you have shell access, a program called wp-cli has a great search-&-replace function.

    Please let us know whether or not that helped, or if you require additional assistance.

    I changed the site url in the option_value column in rows “siteurl” and “home” and everything seems to linking up correctly now.

    But now there is another problem. Now, when I try to insert a media file (photo) into a blog post, nothing happens. It will not insert, and does not show as having inserted in the html.

    Am I missing something else?
