So on both my sites, rwilliamswriter.co.uk and queerlittlefamily.co.uk, on Chrome I get the chrome pop up box to enter my login details, looks like this:

It’s the same on chrome on my phone, firefox on my phone, edge on my laptop.

Whenever I click sign in it just pops back up again. If I cancel I just get a blank page with the word unauthorised.

I updated some plugins the day before yesterday I can’t remember which ones, and both sites have some of the same plugins but not all. And of course, I updated the core. I might have to remove all the plugins, I know, but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

    Thanks, Ren

  • Something on your server is requesting an HTTP basic access authentication.

Do you have any security plugin(s) installed?

WordPress does have an interim login that pops up when you have been idle for too long, but it doesn’t look like that.

You may want to switch (temporarily) to a default (Twenty*) theme, disable all of your plugins and then re-enable them one-by-one to see if you can isolate the issue.

Be sure to clear your browser cache, as well as any caching plugins you may have and disable any sort of reverse proxy you may be using (as those can do caching as well).

It’s weird cause I have a security plugin on one (wordfence) but not the other. I cleared my cache, first thing I did.

So I went into cpanel to delete the plugins, see if that helps but nothing.
