Log-In Error "You Don't Have Sufficient Permissions…

  • Tried updating everything over the weekend, thought everything was working then I tried to log in the next day and get this error after trying to login.

    “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
    at url: https://website.com/homedirectory/wp-admin

    No trouble with the log-in page, just when I submit the log-in information I get this. When I go back to the main index page for my installation and refresh I can see that I am logged in as the wordpress edit bar at the top appears.

    When i go up to the bar and click on dashboard, I get the same error. But if I click on another link like posts, or users, or updates it actually takes me to that page of the admin panel and then I can navigate the admin panel just fine – JUST NOT THE DASHBOARD MAIN PAGE or Profile Page (I think that’s it).

    I have tried disabling all plug-ins, I have tried reverting to twenty-ten theme. I did a manual install following all the instructions. I tried resetting the user database. None of these worked. Any other ideas. This is super weird to me…

    Andy, thanks for the thoughts, but I thought the redirect is hardcoded in somewhere. Is this an option to change or switch in the settings or in the code?

    ok , can you use your backend , except that of that top bar . if you can then optimize your database …because sometimes such error occurs due to overloaded database .

    Yes, I can get into the backend – just not directly through the dashboard beginning page. I have to navigate to templates or something else. I did already try to reset the user database to no avail, but I am going to download a database optimizer plugin and try that next.

    Optimization did not help unfortunately… same issue.
