    Hello,

I maintain weekly back-up to Dropbox using .zip compression. For last couple of weeks, it shows the following error:

[15-Jul-2017 03:30:59] ERROR: Signal “SIGHUP” (Hangup detected on controlling terminal or death of controlling process) is sent to script!

Can anyone please tell me how I can solve this problem?

    Regards,
    Asad

    Hi @lokmancu,
Look like BackWPUp runs out of maximum execution time.
    Please try go to:
BackWPup > Settings > Jobs, try to set Maximum Script Execution Time setting to about 25 seconds
    Run it again.
If it not working for you, comment it here and we will go further.
    Hope that helps you,
    Cuong

    Hi @duongcuong96,

I set Maximum Script Execution TIme setting to 25 seconds (previously it was 30 seconds). I’m currently running the job. The job is stuck now. It says:

    63% – Creates archive
    86% – 2. Trying to create backup archive…
WARNING: Signal “SIGTERM” (Termination signal) is sent to script!

    Anything else I should try?

    Hi @lokmancu,
Please contact your hosting provider to let them fix this error.
You can send them a message like this:

My hosting provider is asking me to contact with the developer. ??

Hi @lokmancu, it really doesn’t have anything to do with the plugin itself. Somehow the server is killing off the processes, and that’s the warning you are receiving. Only the host would know about the parameters around when processes are killed.

Hi @lokmancu, since we haven’t heard back from you and this problem is really nothing to do with the plugin itself so I mark this problem as resolved.
If you still have any problem, just open it again ??

Please note, I have deleted some lines from here.

Some day earlier, I probably noticed an additional line in the log that I can’t find and mention here, but so far I can recall that it said, your file name is too long and is not supported in this compression system. I’m not sure if it’s causing the problem. But I guess, you can help me get a plugin to shorten the longer file names in couple of clicks and update all the links automatically. I’ll let you know if it fixes the problem. I looked for similar plugins but was unable to find any.

    Please help!

    Hi @lokmancu,

Regarding your filename error, I don’t know of any plugins to shorten them. But that indeed would be the best solution.

Regarding the warning, is your execution time still at 25 seconds? It looks like it’s getting stuck while generating your zip file. What’s the total size of your files?
