    Hello,

Translating from EN to FR, the site language being FR, updated to the latest WP & loco version, when I hit the button Save, the page reloads and all the translation are lost.

    – Current PO FR file size if 450k
    – LocoTranslate is confirming that the files and folder are writable – -rw-r–r– & drwxr-xr-x.

    Can you please help ?

    Thanks.

Update: WP debug log doesn’t show any issue, Debug section of the plugin reports all OK besides loco directory not writable, but I guess that’s not the issue as the PO file is located in another directory

This suggests a JavaScript error. I will need to see what that is. You can use your console to capture whatever error is occurring. (the “Preserve log” option will be necessary).

As I’m not aware of any such JavaScript bug and nobody else is reporting this, it could be a conflict with some other plugin or theme. Disable all other plugins and switch to a stock theme. Then let me know if the problem persists.

Correct, it shows unknown error / blank response from server.

Alright, created a staging site via WP-Staging, fall back to Nineteen Theme with only Loco and WP-Staging plugins, same issue.

WP debug log would not show JavaScript error.

it shows unknown error / blank response from server.

This isn’t the root cause. This is an error message shown when the Save function has worked, but returned empty. i.e. it’s not a JavaScript error, it is my code running correctly after something else has gone wrong. In fact this is not consistent with your report of the page reloading. Does the page reload AFTER this message is logged?

    What is “WP-Staging plugins”?

    (@redvivi)

It is a plugin I have just installed (was not activated upon issue) in order to create WP staging environments without modifying the live website.

The page reload after the message is logged, yes.

Got it. The cause is the plugin “Loco Automatic Translate Addon” on a bare WordPress setup. Will report it on the plugin Support page.

Can you provide a link to this please? It is not my product and this is the second time I’ve heard of it causing a problem.

    So got more info, FYI.

When the above-mentiond plugin is activated, Loco is continuously reporting:

Debug: Translations don’t match template. Run sync to update from bridge.pot

    Debug log shows

29-Apr-2020 15:41:49 UTC] [Loco.debug] “Translations don’t match template. Run sync to update from bridge.pot” in src/error/AdminNotices.php:109

Deleting and re-creating the PO files doesn’t change anything.

    Thanks for the update.

The above-mentioned plugin effectively hacks my editor, so I’d expect side effects like this. Naturally they are beyond my control as the behaviour of my plugin is being altered.

I have actually been in touch with the developers of this add-on as they have been using my name and logo to promote their product.

For the record, integration with third party translation providers (machine and human) has been on the TODO list for a long time. Expect some new features along these lines in v2.4.0.
