Lockup/Timeout when using shortcode in Thrive Content Builder
-
I’ve asked in the Thrive Content Builder (TCB) forum (see below), but thought perhaps you guys had seen something, or could suggest something. Please note that I am able to use shortcodes in TCB with no problems. So I am baffled… help? Please?

I’ve run into something that is very frustrating. My client offers different types of services, and they each have their own set of FAQ’s. So he purchased Ultimate FAQ (details below). I’m converting his service pages to use TCB and those I’ve converted, look wonderful. He wanted to add a section on each service page that displays ONLY the FAQs specific to that service. With Ultimate FAQ you add a shortcode like the one’s shown below (I added a space so it would be accepted here, remove for testing)
[ultimate-faqs include_category='adult-cooking-classes,adult-parties,pre-paid-packages' exclude_category='field-trips,kids-birthday-parties,kids-cooking-classes,membership,summer-camp']
Oddly, this code works INSIDE the TCB builder. I can see the results. In fact, I was shocked it rendered the shortcode here as mostly it doesn’t (like with the revslider shortcode). I see the FAQ section, correctly rendered!
Save the changes and attempt to view the page in either preview or as a published page though, and plan on getting a cup of coffee before it just gives up and display an error message Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /hsphere/local/home/HIDDEN/therealfoodacademy.com/wp-includes/load.php on line 879 or another one that says Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 130968 bytes) in /hsphere/local/home/HIDDEN/therealfoodacademy.com/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1524
Now, this shortcode WORKS if the code is on a normal page, within the content edit area, but just blows up the site (lock down, time outs, other pages slow to a crawl) if the shortcode is used in any part of TCB. I’ve tried the paragraph element, WordPress content element, Custom HTML element, and all have the same effect.
Worse, once it reaches this point, if you exit TCB and attempt to come back in for edit, you are timed out as well. Only recourse I found at that point was to delete the page and start over.
So, to my question. Has anyone else reported any problems with this or any third party shortcodes? Is there a workaround? A setting change? A configuration override?
I’ve increased the max memory limit and available memory limit available to PHP at the control panel and within wp-config.php. I have a confirmed 256meg available.
I had to delete the section on my biggest TCB generated page (the highest priority one for him) so I can’t point to a page where I couldn’t get this working (for your review). However, I setup a dummy page which doesn’t appear in any menu’s that you can use for testing. I have added content into TCB (minimal) and setup a WordPress content element with commented shortcode samples you can try.
FYI, I’ve done all the standard things like clear the cache. Disable and test without other plugins (other than the two in question of course). I had to do this part at 3am since his site is busy and disabling plugins causes his “process” to break. (Please don’t disable Bookeo, Stout Google Calendar, or WP Ultimate Recipe Premium during testing)
I would really appreciate your help. He spent time and money to get, setup and enter all the data into this plugin. I would hate to tell him we start over!
