locked out of wp site after install & uninstall of WP Email Capture

  • I’ve been searching google for a plugin that will capture an email and release a download. It kept showin with “WP Email Capture” so I tried it. I installed the latest version of the plugin. Nothing happened. then I found the ‘settings’ page for the plugin and entered the 2 pages it asked for. ALL of a sudden my screen went the Settings Page (really long) for the entire site. THEN the site just “blew up”. Can’t get into the site with wp-login, url fore the site says “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/site348/public_html/wp-config.php on line 4”. It originally said “line 1” but the whole thing was gobbledgy gook when I looked at config.php so had to straighten that out. I tried a different db password that didn’t work. so reset the pw to what was there originally. Now it says the error is on “line r”. I have no idea what “line 4” is in the config file, but the whole config.php is the same as it was when I uploaded the site. Anyone know how to get this fixed? Thanks. K

    Fixed: Make sure to open wp-config.php in a php editor! It will show immediately which line is the problem. Then upload directly into the php editor the config-sample.php file. If no problem is seen with the highlighted line where is supposed to be, then just type into the sample file the values that you know will work for your database. Save Sample as wp-config. and upload.
