Locked out of WP Admin

Recently I have been having trouble logging into WP Admin, getting message that I made too many invalid attempts, which is not true…after 2/3 days it lets me back in, but I need to stop it happening…it happened 3 times in the last week!!!
Can anybody tell me how to stop this please?
