• After resetting my phone, i lost access to my wordpress admin 2FA and have been locked out. I have tried disabling 2FA plugins from my webmail, tried using backup codes, but nothing worked. How do i gain back access to my wordpress admin if it keeps asking for google authenticator codes? Thank you in advance.

  • You’ll need to disable whatever plugin or 3rd-party tool you’re using to provide the 2FA, as WordPress itself does not offer such a feature.

You can do so by renaming or deleting the plugin’s folder from FTP or the file manager that comes with your web-based hosting control panel.

    Good luck!

Hi, I have tried deleting and disabling the plugins, but it still asks for 2FA at login. Could you possibly show me a list of the common 2FA plugins?

I doubt you’ve actually deleted the plugin that’s providing the 2FA feature, as it’s strange that a plugin that has been completely deleted would still be working and asking for 2FA credentials.

In any case, you seem to have heavily customized your WordPress installation: none of the links to the plugin and theme resources loaded on your site is using the WordPress default URLs. You’ve even customized your “wp-admin” path.

Nothing wrong with “hiding” WordPress from your site if you choose to, but the consequences is that after such customizations, it becomes difficult to provide support when we don’t have access to your site.

Could you possibly show me a list of the common 2FA plugins?

Will giving you my login credentials help? I could give you my wordpress and bluehost details if need be.
Or should i just start over?

Please that is not allowed here.

If you need direct help with this and your host will not help you, consider posting a job ad at https://jobs.wordpress.net (I’ve seen people post ads asking for volunteer help there, so that’s something to consider if you’re unable to pay for support).
