Locked out of site- Tech Banker site unavailable

    Yesterday (Sept 1, 2018 – Australia) I went to update a post and was unable to access my site. The debug logs in Safari showed an access error while trying to load the site. I then checked another site on my “server” and had no trouble at all.
    It was a WP issue. I then FTP’d to the site and moved all plugins to a temp folder and tried again. I got straight in!
    Placing the plugins back bit by bit I discovered the Captcha-Bank plugin to be the cause.
    I downloaded a new copy from www.remarpro.com and uploaded it.
    Same thing, unable to even get the home page to show.
    Removed it and got in.
    Came to www.remarpro.com and clicked on the link to check the plugin developer’s site.
    No go.
    The link on the wordpress site just returns you the the wordpress site. (note this behaviour is not consistent and depends on whether I am trying on my Mac or on my iPad.)
    Doing a google search to find a “raw” link to their site…
    same result. Safari reports a protocol error and cannot connect to site.
    I am assuming that the plugin “phones home” and maybe this is why it is preventing access. Who knows?

    Seriously, does anyone know what is going on?
    Is “Tech Banker” still in operation?
    Why am I the only one asking this?

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Firstly, Tech Banker is still in operation and we don’t indulge in any such practices as mentioned above.

    Captcha Bank Plugin records your visitor IP Address on the Login Page to check if multiple attempts are done to log in from a particular IP Address in order to detect and prevent any attack on your website by Hackers, bots.

    In order to achieve this, the IP Address is sent back to https://tech-banker-services.org/api/getipaddress.php to retrieve the various details such as Location, Country etc.

    Our service was down for few hours due to maximum load and it affected dozens of websites over the weekend.

    We are already in the process of upgrading our infrastructure and probably would be done by today night.

    However, the error has been fixed as of now, and you should be no problems accessing your site.

    Good to hear, however all is still not well.
    I reinstalled Captcha-bank, went to the license page to activate my license.
    Got an alert saying it was activated but now have a greyed out view of license page with a rotating circle wait type logo in the centre of the page.
    Reloading the page gives me back control yet the licensing page now shows I still need to activate my license.
    Logged out of my site admin and tried to log in again.
    Captcha-bank appears in login page with text field for input but no CAPTHCHA image for me to read! Just a little ? box where I am assuming the image should be.
    Then tried the “free” edition of Captcha-bank and while stepping through the activation page on going to the last step “Confirm” once again the grey overlay with the busy logo spinning.

    Is the plugin trying to write something and being stopped?

    In any case I still can’t use it.

    I am unable to access your site.
    Tried both Safari and Chrome.

    Still no joy.

    I have even tried using a VPN (set server to UK and US) to try to connect to your site.

    I have tried on my other computer and from my iPad.

    You site is unavailable to me!
