• I have just tried to install the WordPress Hits Counter plugin. I went as far as configuring the widget but after I had finished it took me to a screen which told me that Google Chrome could not find my site. I have no problems accessing a host of other sites and web pages, but try as I might I can’t get back into my website/blog. I am happy to do without the plugin – all I want is access to my site. Can anyone please help me?

Cancel that request – it appears to have come back. Unnerving for a while though.

And now it’s gone again. Why???????

It is possible that the problem was be caused by a hosting/connectivity issue which coincidentally occurred when you installed the plugin.

If the problem has been caused by installing a plugin, to remove the plugin you can connect to your site files by ftp, navigate to your wp-content/plugins directory and delete the folder for the plugin you suspect has caused the problem.

Ooh, golly, I don’t know. When it came back I stupidly went in to amend the plugin (no, I don’t know why either!) as opposed to simply removing it and now it’s lost it again. I’m hoping to will magically connect again at some point, but if it doesn’t then I have to show my ignorance and admit that I understood nothing about the ftp suggestion. Despite having been an IT trainer, I am severely lacking in this field.

And, as if by magic, it is back again! I’m going to leave well alone now. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my plea for help.
