• I did not make multiple attempts to log into my website, yet my IP address has been blocked from my website by the Limit Login Attempts plugin. A trace back to the agent responsible for blocking my IP revealed it’s being blocked by a company called Confluence Network. Their website has an email to correct problems with blocked IPs, but now all these hours later I’m still waiting to hear from them.

Using a FTP client I deleted the plugin’s files, but the block on my website remains.

Host Papa’s Softaculous offered this plugin as an option to select during the WordPress upload. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE ELSE select this plugin option until this problem is fixed.

I can work on my site using my iPad, but you all know how much fun that is!!!!

Anyone who can help with this, please let me know.

  • If you go to Settings -> Limit Login Attempts -> Clear Lockouts (on your ipad) you’ll be able to log into your WordPress through the computer again.

    Hello

I started a new blog using WP2014. Almost immediately, it started locking me out, saying I’d tried to log in too many times. I was puzzled as I thought I haven’t even tried to login yet! I waited the suggested 24 hours, got in briefly, thought it was an anomaly, then a few minutes later, it had locked me out and I had to wait again.

In the end, I went to my host and renamed the folder, so that WP could not ‘find’ or ‘run’ the Limit Login Attempts plugin, thereby allowing me log in to my site.

Thereafter, I deactivate and deleted the plug in as I couldn’t risk not being able to get into my site when I needed to.

I’ve got BruteProtect at the moment and thus far it hasn’t locked me out.

I have been locked out of my account because it says that I’ve attempted to log in with the wrong info. too many times. Yet, I haven’t even logged in all day. Someone is trying to log into my account, doesn’t know the password and it getting locked out but so am I. I can’t make any changes. Help

Just to understand this better, it means hacker bots are seeing your username as a blog poster and then attempting to login with that account, testing various passwords.

It’s not a flaw in the plugin, its that your site is being attacked.

When you’re trying a new plugin, its useful not to make extreme settings. I have it set for a 12 min block, much longer if there is multiple lockouts. Thats worked fine. Lockouts are rare.

You may find it useful to a have a second Admin account that you don’t post from. And use strong passwords on both.

During domain distribution, the site will be variously available at the new domain. Follow your hosts instructions and use the IP address to access you site in the meantime.

Assuming this is what you mean.

And if you need urgent help, don’t post under a different subject.

I blogged the first time yesterday since Sept. I had no issue getting in.

Now it says too many login attempts. Which is not true as I only tried to login today.

    Suggestions?

    I don’t use FTP.
