I installed Sucuri after the big Russian hacker scare, and kept getting a lot of “Failed Login” emails. Now it seems that instead of brute forcing the Admin user, they’re using my actual username, and now my username appears to be blacklisted and I can’t get into my site.

I’ve disabled the Sucuri plugin by renaming it via FTP, and I still cannot get in.

  • There is no such feature in the plugin that could block you to access the administration panel of your website, so either an attacker was able to guess your password and changed it, or you have installed a different security plugin that has a functionality to block/blacklist user login attempts.

Login again to your FTP server and rename the plugins folder to something like “plugins_disabled” that will deactivate all the plugins installed and activated in your site temporarily while you re-gain access to the admin interface.
