I’m locked out of some pages. Help!

    1. Before PPWP, had protected about half my site pages using default WP protection.
    2. Installed PPWP, customized the enter password message page. Tested a random (previously passworded) page on another browser and got in–it should have asked for a PW, I believed.
    3. Went to the plugin’s master password page and set up a master password (btw, this step was not documented in the video or other materials I checked; please include for future users). Tested on several browsers. This time, no protected pages displayed (good), but the password did not work on all pages (very bad).

Q: If I do not set up a master password, but have applied protection to pages, what then? Are people locked out?
Q: If I created a single master password, should it not work the same on all pages?
Q: One PW is sufficient for all but one of the pages, for which I want to set up a separate PW. How is this done? Do I simply set up 2 masters, but not mention to users that there is a 2nd pw beside the one I had given them?

I unprotected my site pending a solution, but protected the dummy page (https://hebrewlion.com/learn) I’ve shared with you for troubleshooting purposes.

    Thank you for your assistance.

I set up a 2nd master password for you to use to troubleshoot. You should be able to enter https://hebrewlion.com/learn by using HELLO.

    Hi @ronaki,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

We hope you’ve had a great weekend.

Just to clarify, once PPWP Free is activated, the default WordPress password protection feature under Pages & Posts will be hidden to avoid potential conflicts.

If you have password-protected your content with WordPress built-in function, we will migrate these passwords to our Free version.

That means your content is still protected. In fact, our protection displays correctly on the attached protected page, so we aren’t sure what happened with other pages.

Could you please send us that ‘random page” to take a look at?

Also, Master passwords are used to unlock, not to protect content.

With the PPWP Lite/Free, Master passwords can unlock Posts only.

Regarding your questions, please find below our answers.

    1. Yes, as long as the protection is set up under Edit page’s screen. Users are required to enter correct individual passwords to unlock your content.
    2. As mentioned, Master passwords can unlock all protected pages on your site at once (PPWP Pro version is required)
    3. If that’s the case, you should protect and use individual content passwords instead.

Anyway, do you mind sharing with us what you want to achieve with our plugins, e.g. your use case, in more detail?

You might want to go to our chat support or drop us an email to hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com so that our team can support you faster.

    Thank you for your reply:
    1) You ask for the random page: It is the one referenced in the previous communication: https://hebrewlion.com/learn. I just tried entering that page and cannot (tried both the pw I gave you HELLO and my normal PW).
    2) Gotcha; the master PW feature is not applicable to me, at this time
    3) I don’t think you exclicitly stated (and if you did, I overlooked it) where one chooses the password. When I look at a closed page, there’s a protect/unprotect toggle. No dialog pops up to allow me to choose a PW. I am locked out of my own pages. Help! The link you shared includes a screen shot of a post and the location of where a PW is entered, but I do not know how to make that field appear in my page. I do not see a way to share a screen shot, so you must believe me that the field is not present in my page at that location. Please tell me explicitly how to set a global password on a page.
    4) Sure, thanks for asking what I would like to do. I would like to PW protect some pages and customize the enter password message page. In fact, I managed to achieve both of these goals. I am simply locked out (when not logged into WP) and need assistance in obtaining password info.
    5) Thanks for offering the chat option. As you can see, you guys are responding even faster than I can keep up. Thank you ??

    Hi @ronaki,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We hope you’re doing well as usual.

Just to clarify, with our PPWP Lite (free) version, passwords are managed under Edit page screen.

Do you see our Password Protect WordPress section there?

Please switch to Block Editor or Classic Editor if you’re using any other page builders such as Elementor or Divi.

You might also want to drop us an email at hello(at)preventdirectaccess with the following information so that we can assist you better:

    1. A full screenshot of your Edit page screen
    2. The normal password that you’re mentioned

We look forward to hearing from you.
