This may be the stupidest mistake ever.
I added a redirection with regex so that all hits on the homepage get redirected to an outside site.

What I did not think about is that I cannot access wp-login.php now and have effectively locked myself out of the admin module.

Any helpers on how to regain access?

Is there a way to delete this particular redirection through the ftp access given by my provider?

You could just disable the plugin (by renaming the directory it uses), or possibly disable all the site plugins till the issue is fixed.

Yep, rename the plugin’s directory to disable it, login, and then re-enable the plugin and disable the redirect.
