    Hello BD Team,

I am using BD Plugin for the directory listing. I am searching for a way to appear in Google Search for Location-based Taxonomy. for example, “Firms in California”

How to create sitemap for Location Taxonomy as BD Plugin only created 2 Taxonomy, Categories and Tags.

Please guide on above for better SEO.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Dhaval

    Hi Dhaval,

Thanks for your question! Business Directory Plugin does provide Regions tags/settings that should be picked up by the SEO plugin that you are using.

In case you haven’t come across it yet, we offer a guide that will assist you in setting up your site using three of the major SEO plugins on the market. Find that here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/seo-friendly-tips/

In the article, the Business Directory Plugin settings are outlined for each of the three main plugins.

When a sitemap is generated for your site, it does include a Regions sitemap. The URL for that is something like this (depending on the site and directory names): https://www.yoursite.com/directory-name/wpbdm-region-sitemap.xml

Some suggestions for improving the site SEO would be to focus on the naming of the directory, to set up your site using an SEO plugin, and possibly adjust the name of the Regions slug under Directory > Settings > SEO to better reflect the content of your site.

    Does that help?

    Hello Bobbie,

    Thank you for your response.

We are not using the Region Module of BD.

We have a custom field for City, State.

How we can create a sitemap for Form Fields City and State from BD?

Looking for the solution to better SEO for location using BD plugin.

    Hi @smartcafirms

Thanks for getting back to me on this. This is just one of the benefits of using our Regions Module.

We don’t have support for doing something like this, but you may be able to group listings on specific pages that will be added to your sitemap using our shortcodes. ?All of our supported shortcodes are listed here:?https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/shortcodes/

    Hello Bobbie,

If I enable Region Module now, is there any option to merge the existing City and state field with that of the Region field created by the Region Module?

    Hey Dhaval,

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

You would have to migrate the regions data by doing a CSV export, copying the fields over to the correct regions field, and then reimport the listings. We have written an article about how to do that here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-do-mass-data-changes-in-the-plugin/

You’d also have to add the data for the city fields manually to the plugin, as they aren’t currently created. You can either add them so that the user can select them from a dropdown menu or allow listing owners to add that information when they post a new listing.
