Can you paste a link to a page where you are having this issue?

Even the radius functionality is not working for me

You have the MAL incorrectly configured, see “Advanced Fields Configuration” here https://wpadverts.com/documentation/maps-and-locations/, in very least you should have Taxonomy Levels from 0 to 5, not from 5 – 0.

Either way, when i search for “Readwood Avenue” with 5 miles radius https://dealzbag.com/all-ads/?location=Redwood+Avenue%2C+Winnipeg%2C+Manitoba%2C+Kanada&radius=5&location_lat=49.925086&location_lng=-97.15518800000001&location_txt=Winnipeg it does return a proper results to me?

So I did the recommended changes, but still the way I am perceiving the location system to work its not working that way.
For example if I type “Redwood Avenue” – only “Testing Ad 2” should show up, but instead, it shows up all the ads in that city or state.
Is the location feature working on the basis of city and state only. If that’s the case where can I make changes to even search on the basis of specific addresses?

In your current setup following things happen when you search by Goole Autocomplete without radius.

    1. You enter a text, some suggestions appear and you click on one of them.
    2. MAL scripts collects the data returned, and maps it to what is available in DB (address, zip code and city).
    3. When you run a search the location txt is used to search items based on address, zip and city.

Unfortuantely when searching for “Redwood Avenue” only city (locality) is returned (there is also “Route” but MAL does not recognize it as it is not saved in DB), so basically when searching for “Redwood Avenue” search for “Winnipeg” is executed.

It seems that with Google Places search it would best to always use some radius, then it will return the best results.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, also can you tell me what center point does the radius take? is it the text entered in the location that act as the center point for the radius to work.
Sometimes when I select radius being on the same address for a specific ad, that ad too disappears.

I have everything setup the way it is suggested in the documentation for radius, but its not working for me. As soon as I have address in location and I select radius value all ads go null.

So I played around a bit with location taxonomy and kind off found that Postal code and address are not syncing together in terms of search radius.

    1. the center point is location entered in Location search.
    2. i am not sure what do you mean?

    (@bhanumunjal)

So I have set up two ads for you two test out my problem – The addresses are 170 and 160 Princess Street.
If I enter 160 Princess Street address and then select 5 km radius no ad shows up.

Hmm exactly the same setup does return two results for me, it might a problem with the separate table for which stores data for radius search, there is a free plugin you can download here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30001999/snippets/mal-sync.zip, the usage instructions you will find at the end of documentation https://wpadverts.com/documentation/maps-and-locations/

This should fix allthe problems with radius search, if this won’t help then please email using contact form here https://wpadverts.com/contact/ as this would require some more advanced debugging.

Hey Thanks! It works perfectly now. The only thing I need to clarify is everytime I have to click sync button though whenever a new ad is posted

    Plugin Author Greg Winiarski

    (@gwin)

There is some kind of bug on your site, you should need to run the MAL-Sync once only.

When you create a new Ad and then run MAL-Sync, what is the log message for the new Ad?

    Thread Starter bhanumunjal

    (@bhanumunjal)

So when I run MAL-Sync again after publishing new ad, this is the message i get next to the ad listing first time – INSERTED (from post meta). When I click Sync again it shows OK next to the ad and those ads starts to respond to radius then.
What kind of bug do you think might be causing the issue?
