Location result displaying other states

    Hi,

    Can someone help me on this one please. Why is the map displaying other states when I typed in ‘NSW’. It also displays the VIC and one QLD location (though the other QLD is not showing)

    Hello,
    when you type “NSW”, it finds the coordinates of the center of New South Wales, then finds your locations that are close to this geographical point, and these matches can be in other states too. As it is a free form search entry field, we can’t know which kind of entity (state, country,city) the person who makes the search has in mind, we simply pass this string to Google Maps and get the geo coordinates in return. Then we use the coordinates to find the nearest locations, regardless of their state, city or other address parts.

    Hi!

    I was wondering why is it working on the old website?

    What we did was we installed the plugin to the new site and copied all the addresses. However, on the old site, when you type in ‘NSW’, it doesn’t display any other states.

    Does it work with the same shortcode parameters? It might have a parameter to bias toward Australian matches.
