Location page categories

Apologies if this is a simple question to answer, I’m a designer with little PHP experience ??

I would like to add the category functionality that exists within Events to the Locations section.

Essentially this is to allow users of the website to filter events by categories e.g. “live music” and to filter locations by categories e.g. “nightclub”

This doesn’t seem to be available out of the box so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
