    Hello,
Does anyone know where you view a “story” live online?
Secondly, has anyone found an error that says “Error in required structured data element?”

    Thanks

Does anyone know where you view a “story” live online

Are you referring to examples of stories that are being used online?

If so, there are some great examples here toward the bottom.

Secondly, has anyone found an error that says “Error in required structured data element?”

When I check your story URL in the Rich Results Test tool, I see there is a missing value for publisher.name. From the WordPress dashboard under Settings > General, could you check if there is a Site Title present?

Basically, the story is a custom post type with “web-stories” (or maybe web-story? not sure, not near my DB at the moment).

But once we understand that, we can actually create a simple query for posts with the custom post type and use a simple loop to display them.

If you set your stories correctly in the stories editor you can access it’s thumbnail, permalink and title – from here it’s just an issue of styling.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your help.
Renee, I added the Site Title and the error is fixed. Thank you! For some reason, though, I am getting a LOT of errors from the plugin itself; it’s not something I’ve done wrong. It seems the plugin itself is faulty. Please see this image.
Lastly, I know that you can view “Stories” in the plugin itself — samples — but I’m referring to seeing actual “Stories” live online. Currently, I can do a search on my phone and desktop but not see ANY “Stories” anywhere on the internet.

    Thanks,
    JL

Looking into it further, it says Amp Project’s CDN is causing errors. We’re already using our web hosting CDN. Perhaps that’s the problem? If so, there’s no place to disable that.

    Thanks,

Hi @james377, after looking at your image I’ve tested your story myself in the testing tool and I was not seeing any issues at all. It’s all green. So I don’t think you need to worry about anything there!

As for seeing stories on the internet, they can appear anywhere a regular webpage can appear, and shared with people online. Being a rather new format it’s of course not that common to see yet, but they’re quickly gaining traction.

As for Google, Web Stories can appear in Search, Google Images, Discover, and the Google app, in a lot of cool ways. See https://developers.google.com/search/docs/guides/enable-web-stories.

    Hello,
Please view this page, it’s the results after I tested the page after fixing the Site Title problem that Renee Johnson mentioned above. Please see this image, it’s where you’ll need to click to view the errors that I’m referring to: “VIEW DETAILS.”

    Thanks,
    JL

I know you’re one of the authors of the plugin, but I had to send images.

@james377 Got it, thanks! Now I know what you mean. I can see the same notices/warnings on other stories as well, so I think it’s just a hiccup with the testing tool. Nothing that should impact your story!

To give you some context, Web Stories are powered by AMP, and one of AMP’s powers is its CDN.

While it’s currently not possible to self-host the AMP runtime, it’s something that is being considered to be supported.

At the same time, I do want to stress once again that this is more of a hiccup in the testing tool and there’s really no reason to worry about the AMP CDN.

I’ll follow up with the teams working on this internally to see if the warning can be fixed in the meantime.

@james377 While I’m waiting to hear back on the above, just checking in whether there’s anything else we could help with related to the plugin?

If you’re otherwise happy with it, you might want to consider leaving a review. This would really make my day!

    Will do. Thanks.
I’m building another story, but I notice that the “edge” line is not at the same place as the finished product, on the slide.
    Images explaining:
Image 1 (link) shows that the edge of the slide, according to the edge line, should be flush with the top of the letters ll in the word all.
Image 2 (link) shows what it actually looks like.

Note: The story isn’t live online yet, so it’s not possible for you to view.
    Thanks,
    JL

Note: It’s no problem, I can simply adjust accordingly, but I wanted to bring that to your attention. Thanks. ??

Oh, very interesting! Not very helpful lines when they don’t match the actual output ??

I’ll gladly pass this on to our engineering team!
