I’m preparing a few pages (to be published later) which will include the weather widget. I’m running into a problem when entering the weather location as “Geiranger, Norway”.

    The error I’m getting is:

Please set your valid city name and country code.

I’m using the free version so coordinates is a no go. Is there a way to find the nearest city that has weatherdata?

    Hi @on4bam,

    Thank you for your query.

You can use the nearest city “Valldal, Norway” instead of “Geiranger, Norway” to show the weather report. And you can override the city name with the ‘Override Location Name’ option like the screenshot.

Hope you will be able to show the weather report of the nearest city.

Let us know if it works or not.

    Hi,
Yes, That’s what I did. I used “Stryn, Norway” but had to do this by trial and error to see which location would be valid. Although Geiranger is a small town it’s a very well known place and it surprised me it was not in the weather database.
I would expect the “nearest location”would be used automatically.

    Hi @on4bam,

    Thank you for your effort.

The Location Weather shows the weather report via OpenWeatherMap API. And really sorry that the city ‘Geiranger’ is not listed in OpenWeatherMap.

It is okay to expect that the “nearest location” would be used automatically. If you could use Coordinates of a city, it would show the weather report of the nearest city if that city is not listed.

But the Coordinates option is not available in the lite version.

    Hope you understand.

No problem. I used the workaround before posting the problem here. I understand the limits of a free version so it’s not really a problem.
It is openweathermap.org not having the location so not really a plug-in error. I have prepared the weather widgets I’m going to use and have two where I had to use a nearby location. Not bad ??

    Thanks for the replies.
