Location (conditional)

  • I’d like to add “location” as a field, and have the user select country from a dropdown list. From the selection they make, a second list appears showing province/ state. From that, a third list showing city.

    This sort of location conditional list is used all over the internet. It seems odd that it’s not already built into buddypress. is there an easy way to set up suck a list using BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Fields Type?

    It’s a request from many users too but there is nothing out there. There is room for a plugin for sure.

    Right now, I will use 3 fields using custom post type selector. With some javascript I’m sure you will be able to filter the content of the fields. The problem here will be the performance. Filling the city select will be a long operation…

    It would be a lot easier to make it tap into a geolocator like Woocommerce does for their location drop down boxes.
