• I installed WordPress on my desktop (Mac OS X, MySQL and PHP both installed and running fine). The site works fine when accessed on my local drive, but I had some trouble logging back into the Dashboard, so I went through the “Lost your password?” process, after which I received this message: “The e-mail was sent successfully to admin’s e-mail address.” No email ever arrived, however. So now my password is reset and I don’t know what the new one is. Anyone know what I need to do to get the localhost to successfully send the aforementioned email?

  • localhost may not be able to send it – mine cannot because I do not have mail enabled.

If you have phpmyadmin, use that ?

One way is to install phpmyadmin onto your machine aswell. You should then be able to access/edit your database through a nice interface. You could through terminal instead if you know what you are doing.

Thanks, podz. The instructions at that link worked perfectly. I had tried to do that already, but didn’t know about the “md5” thing, so it didn’t work until I selected that on the dropdown.

Thanks, Ian. Yeah, I have phpmyadmin set up. Good stuff.
