localhost upgrade 2.0.2 to latest wp

I’m running wp 2.0.2 with apache 2.0.55, php 5.1.6, mysql 5.0.20a-nt on my laptop– it has worked really well and i don’t want to lose my blog entries. Can i upgrade to wp 2.2.1 without changing any of the underlying software? can i simply use the 5-step plan?
some time ago i went thru the upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0.2 and i had to get into sql to save my posts, since the db had changed so much. it was challenging. maybe someone has some experience with the new wp version!
