    Kudos to eli0086 in this thread for bringing up a workaround solution!

    I don’t know why, but the zip file WP Clone makes of your local dev site has to be uploaded to the remote live site’s wp-content/uploads/wp-clone directory for a successful restore. Trying it from the remote live site’s http root results in an error.

    Of course, you should run the Better Search Replace plugin with www.local.dev to www.remote.com afterwards.
